The bandage of shame
Years of working with sheet metal and never more than a nick
But today I gave myself the idiot cut *hangs head in shame*
Got a nice deep cut all across my palm
Dont try to catch things....it’s like..the first rule of metal work
Ugh
Oh well....that's what I get for being absent minded enough to let the reflex do it's thing

I got some cuts handling a piece of expanded stainless just yesterday... mostly just little ones on the forearms. Nothing like when I was trying to bend a piece that was sharp and cut into two fingertips far enough to leave scars and damage a nerve end. Sheet metal is no joke.

I look forward to your cycling hijinks now that you have a designated beer hand. Heal up.

i tried to push a half finished coffee machine on to the rollers.....it tipped instead of rolled...and i caught it instead of just sidestepping..
that being around 30 kg of exposed sheetmetal as the outer casing wasnt on yet made it a pretty poor call

Does the blood of the proletariat make the boutique coffee maker any more valuable? Asking for a friend ok. . .

You work around dangerous stuff long enough. I mean, I NEVER come back from a camping trip without at least one minor burn from cooking or touching hot car parts.

I did that with my Mom’s curling iron as a teen. I walked past the chord and it tipped off the counter. Luckily my hands were pretty damp from washing dishes for a while so it didn’t really burn me. But that could’ve gone real bad. She was a hairdresser back in the day so I was doubly lucky it was her “crappier” one and not a hotter professional level ceramic unit.
Often it’s just better to let things hit the floor. We all do “a dumb” at some point.

hopefully just superficial- there are many important things on the palm side. A nd there is a section called “no man’s land” that you really don’t want to do damage.

Lucky you didnt hit tendons. My friend’s dad was showing a bunch of boyscouts how to safely use a bandsaw and was quickly taken to the hospital for tendon repair. Even a true jedi master, such as yourself, isn’t fallible.
